Frequently asked questions

What does Kyomu mean?

Kyomu in Japanese (虚無) which means ''nothingness'' or ''emptiness''. To us, is not about what isn't there-it's about what can be created.

About Us

Kyomu Tattoo Studio was born from a passion for creating stories through drawings. I started my career as a tattoo artist in Argentina in 2018 and since 2021 we have a location in the Netherlands, Alphen aan den Rijn. My mission is to make each client's ideas come true by creating something really special together.

Tattoo Preparation
Let your tattoo artist know if you have any allergies or medical conditions. Make sure you're well-rested and hydrated. Eat a good meal before your session to stay energized. Avoid alcohol and drugs at least 24 hours before your session.

Good to know

Dermal Path / Second Skin / Film

The adhesive protects the wound from friction and prevents external pathogens and contaminants from entering the wound.
Once the session is over, we apply a protective film or a Dermal Path (Second Skin). If we have a Tattoo Sleeve project, we recommend that you get a roll of Second Skin indicated by the tattoo artist (in case you are not allergic).

Don't get a tattoo if

You have a recent tattoo where the skin has not healed yet.
You have irritated, bumpy, dark-skinned, or swollen skin.
You underwent plastic surgery or radiation in the las year & if you have a scar less than a two years old.
You are pregnant or have a medical condition and you do not have a doctor's approval.

Healing process

During tattooing, the skin is broken and a wound is created. If you follow the aftercare instructions and take good care of your new tattoo, this wound will take approximately six weeks to heal.

Uncovered Tattoo

Always wash your hands before touching your new tattoo and follow any aftercare instructions given to you by your tattoo artist.
The wound cannot be covered with tight or dirty clothing, this includes towels and bedding. Avoid direct contact of pets with the wound, as this can cause infection.

Sun exposure and humidity

Do not expose your new tattoo to direct sunlight, much less tanning beds. Also, do not expose it to saunas or swimming pools.
Do not expose your tattoo to dusty or dirty surfaces, grass or any external agent that can cause infections.

Exercise after your tattoo session

Larger and more complex designs will have longer waiting periods regardless of the body area. In the case of a tattoo in an area that is more susceptible to contracting, stretching, or elongating, especially during workouts (think: your biceps, forearm, knuckles, elbows, stomach, ribs, knees, calves), we recommend avoiding workouts until the tattoo is fully healed. If you choose to exercise or take long walks after your session, you will cause further damage to the skin aggravating the wound and consequently, you may get an infection.
